The association accounts for over 100 thousand members. The association aims to assist governmental and fire safety agencies, enterprises, organizations, establishments and citizens in carrying out fire-prevention control.
Belarusian Non-profit Fire-fighting Society dates back to December 17, 1872 when the first regional society in Vitebsk was created. At that time the state of fire prevention system was by no means satisfactory.
On July 8, 1876 the governor of Minsk approved the Statute of Minsk Voluntary Fire-fighting Society and on August 4, 1876 the first meeting of its members was held.
In 1898 the chimney-sweep brigade was organized that offered chimney and flue sweeping services to dwellings and state institutions for a certain fee.
Those were the first steps of the oldest non-profit society in the country that today account for 99,600 members and backed by 2352 local and 122 regional branch organizations.
The present-day Belarusian Non-profit Fire-fighting Society was formed on December 29, 1956 that incorporated all regional non-profit fire-fighting societies with their organizational divisions.
The Association is run be the Central Council with the Executive Board being responsible for implementation of decisions of congresses, plenums and presidiums.

Besides promotional and information activities the Society is engaged in manufacturing and fire fighting equipment trading. It also contributes to the recovery of children from the areas contaminated in the result of the Chernobyl atomic power station disaster.
To organize manufacturing process in Minsk and regional centers there have been founded a number of unitary enterprises with their production divisions functioning in 71 districts of the country.
The areas of industrial and manufacturing activity of the Society are the following:
- Boiler and chimney cleaning;
- Oven making and maintenance;
- Installation and maintenance of ventiducts;
- Manufacturing, installation and maintenance of lightning conductors;
- Installation and maintenance of fire and security alarm systems;
- Fireproof works;
- Manufacturing of fire extinguishers;
- Refilling of all kinds of fire extinguishers produced domestically or abroad;
- Manufacturing and selling of fire hoses sets;
- Production of fire stands, boards, buckets, ladders, crowbars, hooks, and boxes;
- Production of spark arresters for petrol and diesel engines;
- Publishing;
- Fire-prevention training courses for civil population;
- Recovery and recreation of children abroad.
Any citizen of the Republic of Belarus of the full legal age (18 years) can become a member of Belarusian Non-profit Fire-fighting Society, provided one wishes to contribute to its development and agrees to its regulations and Statute.
To become a member you can apply to a local organization and in case there is no any in your area you can contact or send a written application to a higher body or the Central Council.
The structure of Belarusian Non-profit Fire-fighting Society consists of local, town, district and regional branches.
