The Gomel engineering institute
of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus
carries out the top skills professional education on the specialty
“Prevention and liquidation of emergency situations». The education
is carrying out on internal (term of studying - 4 years) and correspondence
forms of education (term of studying - 5 years). Besides at correspondence
faculty the studying is carrying out in reduced form (Ç year) for
persons who has the special and high technical education, and who
work in the emergency situations divisions.
The annual admission of candidates in GEI is:
at faculty of internal study – 50 person,
at faculty of correspondence course – 60.
The aggregate number trained in institute at the
moment is – 916 person. In 2004 the first graduation of 53 cadets
of faculty of internal study with assignment of qualification: «The
prevention and liquidation of the emergency situations engineer»
took place.
There are seven faculties in GEI:
the organizations of activity of units and divisions of the emergency
situations;
Fire and rescue technical equipment;
Tactics of carrying out of rescue works and fire fighting;
Fire preventive measures and emergency prevention;
Fire rescue and physical training;
The humanities;
Natural sciences.
Regular number of faculty in GEI – 35 person. The scientific potential
is made by 1 doctor of sciences, 7 candidates of sciences, 1 professor,
2 senior lecturers. From among the faculty over 25 workers are post-graduate
students and competitors.
The institute is placed on the territory of the
area of 33,11 hectares on which 28 buildings and constructions are
settle down. There are a lecture audience, a computer class, the
center of practical training, an autodrome, a hostel, club on 300
places, library, table, buffet, a medical part. The 36 educational
classes and laboratories are equipped by all necessary equipment.
